Is Susan J. Demas going to criticize the Columbia Journalism Review, too?

Here's Susan J. Demas on Michigan Liberal's remarks about Tim Russert's death.

But let's not let a little thing like death spoil our partisan fun. Worst euolgy ever from one PerfectStormer at Michigan Liberal:

"Our condolences to his family and friends. We may not always have agreed with him, but he was a well-respected journalist and he will be missed."

Aw, thanks, Stormy, for that truly tasteless and tone-deaf tribute. I'm sure it would have meant a lot to the dean of broadcast journalism. Gee, I wonder why some of us giggle at the blogosphere ...

That's absurd, there was nothing wrong with PerfectStormer's post. By claiming that Stormy's post wasn't appropriate and implying that being "partisan" is somehow bad, Demas actually validates the usual progressive critiques of the media.

For what it's worth, the Columbia Journalism Review offered essentially the same sentiment as Stormy, and we don't see anyone accusing them of being "tasteless" and "tone-deaf."

While Russert had his critics, including, from time to time, this magazine, no one can deny his importance or his reach, especially in this political season.

EDIT: She doesn't accept comments on her blog, either. Way to embrace transparency, criticism, and the participatory nature of the new medium.
